The entrepreneurs looking to expand an existing foreign business into Canada are great candidates for the Intra-Company Transfer work permit. Though this program is usually for multinational companies looking to move management and key staff between international branches, entrepreneurs who want to move to Canada and meet program requirements can also be eligible.

To get an inter-company transfer work permit:

• The new Canadian business must pass a viability test. For this, the business has to provide their financial information, prove that physical premises are secure, and an efficient business plan to create at least one local job opportunity in the first year.
• The foreign company and its Canadian businesses must be correlated in terms of the ownership structure i.e. they must have either a parent-branch, parent-subsidiary, or affiliate relationship.
• The individual going to manage the business's Canadian branch must have been employed by the foreign business to transfer them for at least one year in a related full-time senior, managerial, or executive role.
